The Greek island of Thassos

Thassos is the most northerly of the Greek islands. it’s part of the Aegean group and offers a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. The island is relatively unspoiled by tourism whilst still offering all the amenities that tourists require. Thassos tends to be greener than a lot of the other Greek islands, this is due to it getting a bit more rain than other islands. Thassos is a top pick for those that like to spend their days on sandy beaches. The island is covered with them. There’s the fantastic Golden beach up in the north east that’s over 2km long and the fabulous San Antonio beach on the south coast. There’s also lots of smaller beaches dotted around where you can find a bit of space to call your own. Although not covered with ancient, historical sites like some islands, Thassos does have a couple for history buffs to enjoy. There’s the archaeological site at Alyki as well as the ancient agora in the capital Limenas. Limenas is also where you’ll find the archaeological museum. There’s also an interesting old town called Kastro up in the mountains in the middle of the island
